A recent motorcycle ride fund-raiser tallied more than $3,500 for the Peachtree City Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Some 78 motorcycles participated in the ride from Cooper Lighting to Warm Springs and then Newnan.

The trip took two and a half hours and each participant was treated to breakfast, a T-shirt, lunch, music and drawings for door prizes.

The participants were escorted the entire route by the Georgia State Patrol.

The money raised will go directly toward materials and equipment for the CERT program, which trains citizens to respond to emergencies in their homes and communities.

CERT is a 10-week course offered at the Peachtree City Police Department and is free for citizens. For more information, visit www.ptcpolice.org and click on the CERT link.
