The intersections in Downtown Fayetteville received a nice addition recently with the installation of new, directional “wayfinding” signage.

The signs have a historic look to match the Main Street design theme, and help point the way to Fayetteville’s civic and cultural places of interest.

Visitors and long time residents of Fayetteville can now easily locate the Train Depot, the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum and City Hall, to name a few.

Main Street Director, Brian Wismer, has already received favorable comments.

“Many people have gone out of their way to tell me how much they love the new signs,” Wismer said. “The second day after the signs went up, we had some first-time visitors to the Train Depot because they saw and followed the signs to our location.”

The signs are part of a Main Street/Downtown Development project that also includes a downtown directional kiosk, and a walking tour brochure of Downtown Fayetteville’s historic sites.  The project is half funded by a Preserve America grant that was awarded to the City by the National Parks Service, Department of the Interior.  The remaining funds were provided from proceeds of the Downtown Development Authority.
