A Henry County man was arrested June 6 by Senoia Police on charges of burglary and cruelty to animals stemming from a May 24 residential break-in where six put bull puppies were stolen.

Twenty-nine year-old Jacob E. Bishop was charged with burglary, cruelty to animals and theft by taking, according to department spokesperson Steve Tomlin.

The residential burglary occurred on May 24 in which six pit bull puppies were removed from the home, Tomlin said. The investigation by Investigator Alicia Batts determined that Bishop was suspect in the break-in, Tomlin said.

Senoia investigators executed a search warrant at Bishop’s home with the assistance of the Henry County Police Dept. and recovered potential evidence of the Senoia burglary, said Tomlin.

Tomlin said two of the puppies were recovered at a Henry County residence that Bishop was known to frequent. A third puppy was found at a different location and was voluntarily returned, said Tomlin. All three of the puppies were returned to their owner, Tomlin added.

Batts obtained an arrest warrant for Bishop on June 6. He was taken into custody and transported to the Coweta County Jail without incident.
Bishop was also charged by Henry County Police with theft by receiving stolen property, Tomlin said.

Tomlin said Senoia officers are still looking for the remaining three puppies. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call Inv. Alicia Batts at 770-599-3256.
