Denny Leander, Commander of Fayette County Post 105, right, congratulates Heidi Turner on receiving a $1,000 scholarship from The American Legion.  Each year, six $1,000 scholarships are awarded to the children and grandchildren of Legionnaires from across Georgia upon their graduation from high school.  Heidi was a home schooled student and the granddaughter of the late Samuel Glenn Cassady, a Legionnaire in Post 105.  Cassady was a US Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War and passed away on July 3, 2011.  Heidi will begin attending classes in the fall at Point University, formerly Atlanta Christian College located in West Point, Georgia.  Fayette County Post 105 meets the second Monday of each month at the Log Cabin in Fayetteville.
