The Peachtree City Police Department is pleased to announce the kickoff for the 2011 “Light up the Night” toy drive. The event will help to ensure that local families in need can have a very joyous holiday.

This year the police department is pleased to announce the partnership with two other local organizations, the Fayette Chapter of Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree Project with the Fayette Holiday Helpers. Together these organizations should help to make this a banner year for collections in our area.

The department is asking for donations of new unwrapped toys for both girls and boys. The age range should be from 2 years to 17 years of age. In lieu of toys, monetary donations can also be made either at one of the donation drop-offs or at the Police Department.

The department’s toy drive will begin on Saturday, Nov. 26 at the Walmart Shopping Center starting at 4 p.m. and lasting until 8 p.m.

The toy drive has been a huge success, and last year over 70 kids were assisted by virtue of this program.

Volunteers from the Police Department and the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) contribute many hours of their time to make this program successful. This year the police department wishes to make this the most prosperous toy drive and holiday fund-raiser the department has ever observed.

The event will be hosted at the listed business locations at the times and dates provided. Also, anyone wishing to make a contribution to this program can stop by the police department during normal business hours.

For more information on locations and/or donations, contact Captain Stan Pye at 770-487-8866 ext. 1303.
