A Peachtree City resident was one of two people arrested Aug. 30 for possessing several pounds of marijuana after Fayette County Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant for identity theft at Lexington Village off Ga. Highway 54.

Nneka Hamilton, 24, of Peachtree City, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and Jamara Bennett, 29, of Lawrenceville, was charged with identity theft and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, said Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said detectives on Aug. 30 executed a search warrant at 805 Lexington Village in Peachtree City. The warrant was part of an identity theft investigation initiated by the United States Secret Service, Babb said.

Babb said detectives had been working on the case during the previous weeks and already obtained a warrant for Bennett.

“During the search of the residence detectives located documents and other evidence related to the identity theft as well as several pounds of marijuana,” said Babb.

Babb said Hamilton, the resident of the home, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

After the search warrant had been executed, an additional warrant was obtained for Bennett for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, Babb added.
