On Saturday morning, March 29, 65 members and friends of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone met at the church to pack meals for the “Stop Hunger Now” organization. In just slightly over an hour the participants packed over 10,000 meals for hungry people around the world. The packaged meals are boxed and sent to a warehouse and are then distributed to areas of the greatest need.

Men, women, and children of all ages participated in the effort. As each “1,000 mile” mark was met, a gong was rung to herald the achievement and everyone paused a moment to cheer before getting back to the task. This was the fourth year that Hopewell has participated in the “Stop Hunger Now” events.

For more information about “Stop Hunger Now” or information about the church, contact the church office, 770-306-7537.

Hopewell is at 351 Jenkins Road, directly across from Sandy Creek High.
