A Sept. 25 announcement by Spancrete pre-cast building products will lead to the creation of approximately 40 new manufacturing jobs in Newnan. The revitalization of an existing facility in Newnan South Industrial Park is expected to be complete for a January opening.

“We are delighted to welcome Spancrete to Coweta County and to Newnan South Industrial Park,” said Coweta County Development Authority Chairman Terry Daviston. ”In business for nearly 70 years, Spancrete is a third generation, family-owned business. The company is recognized as an industry leader, and we are very happy to have them join our existing industrial community.”

Ga. Dept. of Economic Development Dep. Commissioner of Global Commerce Tom Croteau said the project is a testament to the solid partnership among a growing company, the Coweta community and the state of Georgia.

“The jobs and investment represent more than numbers; they represent the company’s confidence in Newnan’s skilled workforce,” Croteau said.

Pertaining to the new facility, Spancrete is updating equipment, renovating structures and preparing the facility to produce Spancrete Hollowcore and Wall Panel building products. The plant will be fully operational by January 2015 and is ideally located to service the entire southeast with Spancrete building solution, according to Spancrete.

“This is a unique opportunity for us to make the most of an existing site, so we’re able to make an impact in the community right away”, said Kristin Szymczak, General Manager of Precast for Spancrete’s Southeast Region. “We’re excited to create jobs and improve this property while also increasing our precast production.”

Spancrete was founded in 1946 and is recognized as both the industry pioneer and the world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of precast, prestressed concrete products and solutions. Spancrete also develops and distributes the equipment that produces prestressed, precast concrete worldwide, company representatives said.
