Fayetteville Police have arrested a Stockbridge man in connection with a Fayetteville house fire that occurred Sept. 27.

Rico Jermaine Williams 30, was arrested on Oct. 9 and is in the Fayette County Jail charged with one count of first degree arson and one count of burglary, according to Det. Mike Whitlow.

Whitlow said the Fayetteville Fire Dept. on Sept. 27 responded to a house fire at 100 Holly Ave which was fully engulfed. Neighbors reported seeing a subject enter the home through a window and leave shortly before the fire started, Whitlow said.

Fire officials contacted the Fayetteville Police Dept. and detectives also responded, Whitlow said.

Whitlow said detectives were able to obtain evidence and through the subsequent investigation identified Williams.

Whitlow noted that the homeowner was inside asleep at the time of the fire but was able to escape without injury.

Fayetteville Police continue to investigate the incident though no additional arrests are expected.
