A Fayette County man was arrested Feb. 4 after being found in possession of a small amount of suspected heroin.

Gregory A. McNeil, 40, of Ebenezer Church Road, was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 drug-heroin, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said McNeil was the subject of a traffic stop near the intersection of Gingercake Road and Ga. Highway 54 in Fayetteville subsequent to sheriff’s Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) investigation relating to narcotics.

McNeil was found to have four bags containing a total of one-half gram of suspected heroin in his possession.

Unlike some other illegal drugs, possession of four or more grams of heroin is considered trafficking.

Babb said heroin is typically sold in very small amounts.
