Restoring Lake Peachtree may bump the annual July 4th fireworks display to Labor Day weekend, the Peachtree City Council was told April 2. But there’s no delay for the July 4th parade.

Recreation and Special Events Coordinator Cajen Rhodes told council members on April 2 that Fayette County’s dredging activities might cause a two-month delay of the city’s July 4th fireworks. If that occurs, fireworks could be delayed until Labor Day, said Rhodes.

Peachtree City on Monday announced that the final decision on the fireworks and the annual Fourth Fest held at City Hall will be made by April 30.

“Registration for the parade will begin early this year, with Peachtree City residents and businesses able to sign up beginning May 19, and Fayette County residents and business signup beginning May 26,” according to the city’s Update newsletter.

“The parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, on Peachtree Parkway South (starting at Village on the Green and ending at the recreation complex and Huddleston Elementary School on McIntosh Trail).”
