Pioneers shine on track

The Southside Pioneers track club took home one team title and a number of winning individual finishes at the recent AAA track meet in Carrollton.

In the 17-19 age group, the boys came in first as a team with wins in the 4×400 relay (Lionel Jones III, Johnathan Womack, Collins Livinus, Khadim Jones) as well as the 4×100 relay (Johnathon Womack, Jordon Nedd, Khadim Jones, Desmond Fletcher). The team also placed third in the 4×100 (Lionel Jones III, Malcolm Byrd, Myjhan Wheeler, Michael Leverett).

Lionel Jones III was first, Collins Livinus third and Khadim Jones fourth in the 400-meter dash. Johnathon Womack won the 200-meter dash while Khadim Jones came in fourth.

Jordan Nedd was fourth in the 100-meter dash and Michael Leverett placed third in the long jump.

In the 15-16 age group, Noah Williams won the 1,500-meter run and came in second in the 800-meter run. The team finished second in the 4×400 relay (Aaron Powell, Kahealani Johnson, Christopher Christian, Noah Williams).

Joshua Dupree won the 400-meter and 800-meter events in the 14-year-old category and Khali Madison was second at 1,500 meters. William Cauthen placed third in the 1,500-meter run among 13-year-olds.

Asia Green was the top high jumper among girls in the 17-19 age group, and Lauryn Oglesby won the javelin throw in the 15-16 category. Brianna Sattinger was third in the 1,500-meter run for ages 15-16, while Daisha Petty placed third in the 100-meter hurdles for 14-year-olds.
