Pedestrian killed in Sunday collision in PTC

Peachtree City Police have reported that  a collision on Ga. Highway 74 North in the early morning hours of Sept. 27 resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was identified Tuesday as 31-year-old Tyrone resident Daniel Thompson who died at the scene, according to department spokesman Mark Brown.

Brown said the collision at approximately 1 a.m. resulted in a preliminary determination that a vehicle struck a pedestrian while traveling north on Hwy. 74.

The vehicle then left the road and overturned, Brown said.

The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Peachtree City resdient Jay Marting, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, Brown said.

Brown said more details will follow as the department’s collision reconstruction officers continue their investigations.
