Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will package 10,000-plus meals on Saturday, Nov. 7, to help “Stop Hunger Now” eradicate hunger around the world. This is the fourth year the church has hosted this huge event.

“It is a big undertaking and the church invites the community to get involved in several ways,” a spokesperson said. “You can help by donating funds to buy supplies. To donate, make checks payable to Hopewell UMC and mail it to the church or the office can accept a cash donation. They also need volunteers to package the meals. Men, women, and children of all ages are invited to come and help measure and package the food.”

A typical meal consist of rice, dehydrated vegetables, and nutritional supplements. Once the bags are full, they are shipped to Atlanta for distribution overseas.

Contact the church, 770-306-7537, to donate or sign up to help on November 7. The church is located at 351 Jenkins Road, across from Sandy Creek High, in Tyrone.
