The Fayette-Starr’s Mill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is organizing a special Veterans Day event to honor Vietnam veterans.

The organization is partnering with Mimi’s restaurant, 303 Kelly Drive in Peachtree City, “to show our appreciation for their service during a very unpopular war,” according to DAR Regent Sylvia Nolde.

Between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, friends and supporters will be displaying signs of appreciation while providing free coffee and warm greetings to Vietnam veterans. The Fayette-Starr’s Mill Chapter of the DAR is a Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemorative Partner and has also put together a display which is currently at the Peachtree City Library.

“If you served in Vietnam, please come and help us make amends for the shameful way that you were treated on your return to the United States after the war,” said Nolde. “They deserve so much more than they received from our country over the years.”
