An agreement between Senoia and Coweta County will have animals impounded by city animal control transferred to the county’s animal shelter.

The Coweta County Commission on April 26 voted unanimously to accept the request by Senoia to have impounded animals transported to the county animal shelter. The agreement will expire on Sept. 30 and will be automatically renewable annually.

County Administrator Michael Fouts noted that Senoia will continue to be responsible for animal control within the city. All animals impounded by the city will have information collected, will be scanned for microchips and sick or injured animals will be transported to a veterinarian for examination.

Once the information is collected the animals will be transported to the county animal shelter where they will become the sole property of the county, the agreement said.

The agreement can be terminated in writing by either party within 30 days of the expiration of the annually renewable agreement.
