The Citizen (Wednesday, May 25, 2016) featured opinion pieces and letters on LGBT rights, including the question of restroom facilities for transgender students. Most quoted Bible verses.

Personally, the older I get and the longer I am a Christian, the less important it seems to prove myself right (and others wrong).

Instead, I join Christian author Brennan Manning in asking, “What would the church be like if we erred from an excess of compassion rather than from a stingy and legalistic lack of it?”

I applaud both the Obama administration’s directive to public schools on transgender bathroom rules and Gov. Deal’s veto of “religious liberty” legislation.
