Since 1999, Rivers Alive has been Georgia’s annual volunteer waterway cleanup event that targets all waterways in the State including streams, rivers, lakes, beaches, and wetlands. The mission of Rivers Alive is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia’s water resources. Rivers Alive is held annually each fall at locations throughout the state and county and is a program of the Georgia EPD Outreach Division.

Fayette County Extension/4-H jointly with Fayette County Adopt-A-Stream will sponsor a Rivers Alive Clean Up at Lake Horton Park. Meet at the South Parking Lot pavilion before 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, to register. Additional parking is available at the North Parking Lot. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers must complete a liability form (available at ugaextension.org/fayette/4h).

The event is scheduled to last until noon. Volunteer T-shirts will be presented while supplies last.

Don’t forget to bring/wear appropriate clothing, shoes/boots, work gloves and bring water bottles (water fountains are available). Bring signed waiver or arrive several minutes early to complete one.
