Shamrock Park in Tyrone on Sept. 30 was the setting for the kick-off of the annual week-long Founders Day celebration. Along with a wide variety of family-oriented events came hot dog-eating contests and, for the brave at heart and for those not concerned with getting a bit messy, a very enjoyable pie-eating contest.
