Visitors to Fayetteville will soon have another option for lodging.

The Fayetteville City Council unanimously approved a bed and breakfast for 200 North Jeff Davis Drive.  The circa-1910 home will be converted to a lodging facility that features six bedrooms and six bathrooms. Owner Alfred Dingler is renovating the home and was grateful for the approval.

The Planning Commission wanted a 5-foot-wide sidewalk in front of the home. The house currently has a 3-ft. sidewalk, and the City Council decided Dingler would not have to add to the existing sidewalk or build a new one.

The city’s new comprehensive plan places this property in Walkable-Mixed Use. The area is pedestrian oriented, and people living in, working in and visiting this part of the city will be able to park their cars from place to place, staff wrote in its report on the project.

In order to use the property for its use, the property was rezoned from R-30 Single Family to OI Office Institutional and approved for a special exception to allow a bed and breakfast use in the new zoning. — John Thompson
