Robert William “Bob” Newland, Sr., 87, of Eatonton, Ga., passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017.

He was born in Trout Lake, Mich. on February 23, 1930 to the late Martin William and Flaurence Bell House Newland. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was a charter member and Deacon of Lake Country Baptist Church.

Bob was preceded in death his two brothers, two sisters, and his parents.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Donie Newland; son, Robert (Patty) Newland, Jr, of Tyrone, Ga.; daughters, Mrs. Diane Benton of Stockbridge and Jana Newland of Hampton; brother, Richard (Pat) Newland of Detour Village, Mich.; granddaughter, Ivy Newland of Tyrone; grandson, Will (Chiara) Newland of Alpharetta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Dr. B. Carlisle Driggers officiating. Burial will follow the service at College Park Cemetery, College Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the funeral home.
