A mixed-use development along Ga. Highway 85 North and Banks Road in Fayetteville could be in the works. The initial concept was presented at the Dec. 19 meeting of the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission.

A project of Brent Scarbrough and Bob Rolader, initial plans call for commercial zoning along the east side of Hwy. 85 immediately north of Banks Road, an area along the roadway totaling approximately 14.4 acres. Initial plans call for approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of retail along Hwy. 85.

Preliminary plans also called for 68 townhomes on 21.5 acres behind the commercial property, with access to Banks Road.

Currently zoned residential, Scarbrough and Rolader are requesting C-3 (highway commercial) for the retail area and R-THC (residential townhouse/condominium) for the residential area.
