Long-time Fayette County resident Rose Marie Harper (center) was honored Jan. 11 by the Fayette County Commission for her service to the county. Commissioners noted her tireless work on behalf of citizens, her service 40 years ago as the county’s first elected Republican and first female county commissioner, and her work, along with her husband, the late Dr. Byron Harper, in being instrumental in the development of Christian City. Pictured, from left, are commissioners Eric Maxwell, Chuck Oddo and Charles Rousseau, son Byron Harper and commissioners Randy Ognio and Steve Brown. Taking center stage was Rose Marie Harper.
