PTC cops send hurricane relief to North Carolina

The Peachtree City Police Department and members of the community lent a hand to those impacted by Hurricane Florence by collecting 21.5 tons of needed goods that were shipped to North Carolina on Sept. 19.

Speaking last week, Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Mark Brown the department was trying get the supplies to the affected areas.

“We are asking the community for donations such as cases of water, unopened bags of diapers and baby wipes, bug spray, sealed snack products and personal hygiene items such as shampoo/soap/toothbrushes and paste,” Brown last week.

The community responded, with residents dropping off a variety of goods needed, especially bottled water and diapers, and totaling 21.5 tons.

The trailer had been parked in the front parking lot of the police department on Ga. Highway 74 South to receive donations. On Sept. 19 during the mid-afternoon hours the semi pulled out, on route to Kanansville, N.C.

The police department thanked residents who generously gave in a time of need.
