A Fayette County man and one from Palmetto were arrested Nov. 10 on charges of armed robbery after an Oct. 30 incident involving a juvenile victim in Fayetteville.

Darius D. Oliver, 19, of Palmetto, and Gabriel Z. Lanier, 20, of Fayette County, were charged with armed robbery by intimidation, aggravated assault and simple battery, according to Fayette County Jail records. Lanier was also charged with terroristic acts and threats, according to jail records.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett said the incident occurred on Oct. 30 at approximately 8:40 p.m. at the Weatherly Walk Apartments off Ga. Highway 54 East.

The juvenile victim was outside when approached by Lanier and Oliver, and with one of the men producing a firearm, Burdett said, adding that the juvenile was not injured in the incident.

Oliver and Lanier were arrested Nov. 10 after deputies on patrol spotted the vehicle registered to Lanier that was parked at a residence on Ginger Cake Road, said Sheriff Barry Babb, adding that there was an active warrant out for Lanier.

Deputies contacted Fayetteville officers and set up a perimeter. The vehicle exited the Ginger Cake Road residence, resulting in a felony traffic stop, said Babb.
