Offended? Get over it

The media’s obsession with political correctness is out of control and I’m sick of it.

I just read the following headline online via the New York Times (I won’t comment on what I think of the NYT): “Is Mary Poppins a Racist Movie?” Seriously? It was accompanied by a photo of Van Dike and Andrews with smut on their faces as part of the chimney sweep bit.

I have a message for the media and humanity: “Get over it!”

It is not possible to be totally politically correct in today’s society. Someone is always offended.

We can’t even breathe without offending some sensitivity. If we take a deep breathe, it is perceived as disapproving. If a shallow breathe, shock. If we breathe normally, someone is offended because we “don’t care.”

People: Be civil. Be caring. But, get over it. Not everyone is trying to offend you.
