Applications for grants for horticultural educational projects by Fayette County schools and civic organizations are available from the Fayette Master Gardener Association (FMGA). Each year the Association offers grants to teachers and students and community organizations.  Grant applications are due by Sept. 25, 2019.  Forms and guidelines are available by email inquiry to[email protected].

Grant projects are funded for one year and must be completed during the school or calendar year.  Some of the projects funded in recent years include those at Spring Hill Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, and Burch Elementary.

Some 75 members strong, the association meets the third Tuesday of each month, August through April, at 10 a.m. at The Bridge Community Center, 225 Willow Bend Road, Peachtree City, and features a free, public lecture by a horticultural expert.

Presentations on-tap for 2019 are Norman Winter, author and national gardening columnist, September 17; Arty Schronce, horticulturist and gardening columnist, October 15; and Carol Hight of the Georgia Native Plant Society, November 19.

FMGA is a non-profit corporation that supports horticultural projects in Fayette County, community organizations, and is a forum for educational, social and service activities for its members. Membership is open to Master Gardeners, friends of Master Gardeners, and volunteers.
