A Fayette County woman was arrested Sept. 28 after kicking and punching Peachtree City police who had been called to businesses at The Avenue regarding possibly fraudulent purchases.

Jada A. Pilate, 21, of unincorporated north Fayette, was charged with simple battery against police, obstruction and giving a false name, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Matt Myers said officers responded to businesses at The Avenue concerning a male and female possibly attempting to make fraudulent purchases.

Officers located Pilate and the male in one of the businesses and attempted an interview, said Myers.

Myers said Pilate refused to provide identification, adding that the name subsequently given by Pilate was run through the state identification system and was determined to be false.

Officers initiated the process of taking Pilate into custody, at which point she begin to punch, kick and slap at officers, Myers said, adding that Pilate was then taken into custody.

The male accompanying Pilate was released at the scene, said Myers.

Myers noted that the circumstances relating to the possibly fraudulent purchases is under investigation.
