The two premiere military flight demonstration teams in the world — the Blue Angels of the U.S. Navy and the Thunderbirds of the U.S. Air Force — plan to fly over Fayette County this afternoon around 1:35 p.m. and Coweta around 1:56 p.m.

The flight is intended to honor healthcare workers, first responders and workers in essential jobs like grocery stores, disinfection teams and truckers who serve during this stressful time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Get a clear view observation site and expect to see the roaring jets in tight formations above Piedmont Fayette Hospital around 1:49 this afternoon, and over Piedmont Newnan Hospital at 1:56 p.m. Their fights began over Baltimore, Md., and Washington, D.C. at 11:30 this morning. They then jetted to Atlanta for a 25-minute exhibition to conclude with the Fayette and Coweta flyovers.

“America Strong is a way for both teams to show appreciation to the thousands of doctors, nurses, first responders and essential workers out there serving on the front line day-in and day-out,” said Cmdr. Brian Kesselring, U.S. Navy Blue Angels commanding officer and flight leader for the flyover. “This is an extraordinary and unprecedented time but we will get through this. We are all in this together.”

Flyovers in Atlanta will start at 1:35 p.m. and last approximately 25 minutes, they said in a news release.
