A Fayette County woman was arrested on Sept. 23 in connection with her part in a domestic incident on Aug. 30 in which her boyfriend was taken into custody for shooting her father at his home.
Yjacy D. Adams, 20, was charged with tampering with evidence, aggravated assault, false statements and writings and obstruction, according to Fayette County Jail records.
Sheriff Barry Babb said officers on Aug. 30 at approximately 6:19 p.m. responded to a domestic call at a residence on Dolphin Drive off Rivers Road.
Babb said Adams and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Atlanta resident Jayvon Jones, had arrived at her parent’s home, where she also lived, to get her belongings and move out.
At one point, Jones discharged a firearm and struck Adam’s father with a .22 caliber round, resulting in a non-life-threatening injury. He was subsequently treated and released at an Atlanta area hospital, said Babb.
Babb said the father apparently returned fire, though he was the only person shot.
Jones was arrested at the time on charges such as aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and tampering with evidence, said Babb.
Yjacy Adams was charged and arrested on Sept. 23 at the conclusion of the investigation.
