A traffic stop for failure to maintain lane resulted in drug trafficking charges for a Gay, Ga., woman when more than an ounce of suspected methamphetamine was found in her vehicle.

Kimberly Chapman, 53, was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs and failure to maintain lane, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Sheriff Barry Babb said Chapman during the afternoon hours of Dec. 5 was stopped by a deputy on Rising Star Road for failure to maintain lane.

Babb said Chapman was in possession of more than an ounce of suspected methamphetamine.

In another incident, a man and woman were arrested in connection with a Dec. 5 altercation at the man’s home in Brooks.

Gregory Hunt, 47, was charged with aggravated assault, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Sheri Williams, 48, of Senoia, was charged with simple battery-family violence, jail records said.

Babb said Hunt and Williams were intoxicated and were involved in a physical altercation, adding that at one point, Hunt struck Williams with an electric guitar.

Hunt was arrested at the scene, with Williams turning herself in at the jail on Dec. 11.
