Two Tigers place at FCCLA State with one championship

At the FCCLA State Competition on March 13, a pair of Tigers placed, with one winning a state championship. Competing virtually, two Fayette County High students finished among Georgia’s best in culinary categories.

Kayce Davis, a sophomore, won first place in the FCCLA State Knife Skills competition. To win, one must examine and perform all aspects of kitchen knife and classic knife skills, apply effective setup through lab practice, and demonstrate competency skills in many different knife cut techniques. Along with the gold medal, Davis was awarded the top cash prize of $100.

Kasahn Rivers, a junior, finished in third place in Online Proficiency Test – Culinary Arts.

The mission of FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) is to boost personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education and provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life while promoting family and consumer sciences, family and consumer sciences careers, and related occupations.
