The pandemic didn’t only affect humans in Georgia. Because spay/neuter clinics were closed for several weeks during lockdown, and operated at limited capacity when they finally reopened, the free-roaming cat population exploded. The Fayette Humane Society (FHS) is still getting calls from people trying to find homes for unwanted kittens–and kitten season should be long over by now.

In order to continue helping citizens who have to surrender their pets, FHS is running a half-price sale on adoption fees for cats and kittens through December 15. Adult cats, normally $55, can be adopted for $25; kittens, who normally go for $110, will be available for $55. All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, and most are microchipped. What a great Christmas present for someone who is looking for a feline companion!

Cat adoptions are held from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the Peachtree City PetSmart store. To apply online, go to https://fayettehumane.org/adopt/adopt-a-cat/

If you’re not ready to adopt a cat right now, you can still help FHS with donations of cash or by purchasing items from our Amazon wish list https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2PW7NVED276NF. You can also join our new High Five Club by setting up recurring donations of at least $5 a month. https://fayettehumane.org/high5club/

Not financially able to help? What about donating your time? We especially need foster families for both cats and dogs, foster home inspectors, and a volunteer coordinator. Apply online at https://fayettehumane.org/get-involved/volunteer/.

The Fayette Humane Society is a 501c3 animal rescue organization run entirely by volunteers and supported by donations. It is not affiliated with the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
