Fayetteville Elementary learned about bees from a bygone era when 3rd graders enjoyed a talk about bees during colonial times.
Leslie and Alex Rogers with Jewel and Jo’s Honey Co. taught the young scholars that honey bees were brought over to the New World by Europeans in 1622. The colonists used beeswax and honey for many different reasons, including candles, medicinal purposes, and much more. Interestingly, beeswax became one of the greatest exports and had a major impact on the economy of the colonies!
