Fayette officials say thanks to voters for SPLOST victory

Fayette County officials said they want to thank the citizens of Fayette County for voting during yesterday’s 2023 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax Referendum special election. According to the unofficial report, a total of 5,788 votes were cast.

Steve Rapson, Fayette County Administrator spoke about the importance of being part of the election.

“This is a significant accomplishment for Fayette County and our municipalities. Voters have approved the one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax renewal and now it is our job to spend the $141 million on the projects prioritizes by our respective governing bodies.”

Director of Election and Voter Registration Brian Hill said he is grateful for all the people involved in this election.

“I would like to thank the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, Board of Elections and Voter Registration and all the Municipalities and voters for participating in this successful SPLOST election. I would also like to thank Fayette County Elections staff and Poll Workers that allowed this SPLOST election to run smoothly,” he said.

The election will be certified during the next Board of Elections Meeting, on Friday, March 24 at 5 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room, suite 100.
