Led by a first place finish from Fayette County High, local students were plentiful among the top 10 in many categories at the 2024 HOSA State Leadership Conference.

The Fayette County High team of Nina Le, Deborah Nyarko, Amarachi Ohaya, Jazmine Thomson, and Sheeza Virani won 1st place in Public Health.

Five students from McIntosh placed in the top 10 of their competitions. Simrah Batliwala placed 4th in Medical Spelling. Isabella Basmajian placed 7th in Dental Terminology. Vedita Sawhney placed 8th in Family Medicine Physician. Ella Wachter placed 8th in Researched Persuasive Writing & Speaking. Tiffany Ngo placed 10th in Researched Persuasive Writing & Speaking.

McIntosh was also recognized as the 3rd largest HOSA chapter in the state.

Starr’s Mill had two students place. Nash Glover placed 2nd in Medical Assisting, and Ella Griswold finished 9th in Behavioral Health.

Whitewater had a strong showing. Rosy Elegemadu-Duru placed 5th in Job Seeking Skills. Lizi Gleason placed 10th in Medical Reading. The team of John Jones, Ivan Agyeman, Olivia Alberts, Maci Mills, and Lily Christenson placed 8th in Public Service Announcement.

With nearly 5,000 participants, the 2024 HOSA State Leadership Conference was the largest in state history. Top finishers advance to the International Leadership Conference this June in Houston.
