For the second time in a month, the Chiefs have been crowned a cheer champion. On December 4, McIntosh High won the GHSA Game Day Cheerleading Championship.
With the victory, McIntosh becomes the first school in state history to win both the Competitive and Game Day titles. It also marks the 10th state cheerleading championship in program history.
“This was a very fun experience and a wonderful opportunity for more members of our cheerleading program to have the opportunity to compete and win a state championship,” said coach Shannon Bednarowski. “They continue to represent McIntosh and the sport of cheerleading well with their commitment to excellence.”
In their first time entering the Game Day competition, the Chiefs were victorious. The Game Day routine is comprised of elements that are used on the sideline at football games, such as leading the crowd with signs, flags, and poms. McIntosh performed portions of the routine at football games all season.
The champion Chiefs are Taylor Beck, Maggie Bowen, Addison Brubaker, Ella Comacho, Alicia Carrillo-Bueno, Sofia Cordoba, Maddie Craig, Blair Dollens, Willow Head, Ashley Henriott, Anna Johnson, Rylee Kent, Meredith Lawson, Laney Linville, Julianne Lockwood, Charlotte Malloy, Channing Patterson, Alexis Ricca, Zamanta Rios Madrid, Nicol Rodriguez, Sophia Rueff, Brooke Tringale, Mackenzie Waldron, Anna Wheeler, and Saylor Ziegler.
They are coached by Shannon Bednarowski, Catie Callen Jones, and Sara Beck.
