Winter Weather/School Closure Advisory
January 22, 2025 (updated 3:30 p.m.)
All Coweta County Schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, January 23, due to persistent icy conditions and hazardous roadways throughout Coweta County.
12 month employees should report when conditions allow them to travel safely, to prepare school campuses for a return of students on Friday if at all possible.
School system employees have checked campuses and surrounding roadways throughout the day Wednesday, and consulted with Coweta County Emergency Management officials about conditions across the county. Many secondary roadways remain hazardous for travel this afternoon, and refreezing overnight is expected to produce additional dangerous conditions on roadways tomorrow morning.
The school system will return to regular operations whenever we can do so safely for students and employees.
The school system will assess conditions tomorrow before making a determination about extracurricular activities scheduled for Thursday. We will also update this advisory Thursday regarding school reopening and morning bus transportation on Friday, January 24.
