The Friends of the Peachtree City Library has been selected as the recipient of Clothes Less Traveled’s Above and Beyond Grant for January 2025. The grant, awarded monthly to one of 70 eligible local nonprofits, was designated to Friends of the Library by Clothes Less Traveled’s Above and Beyond Volunteer for January, Jordan Guest-Johnson.
Clothes Less Traveled, established in 1997, is a nonprofit thrift store in Peachtree City dedicated to sharing God’s love by reinvesting proceeds from donations into local charities. Thanks to generous donors, faithful volunteers, and loyal shoppers, Clothes Less Traveled has been able to give away nearly $8.5 million to over 200 local nonprofits.
“Jordan has been an invaluable member of our volunteer Board of Directors for the past four years, serving as secretary and on multiple committees. She worked tirelessly to support our staff and volunteers and was fully invested in our mission to give back to the community in Fayette and Coweta Counties,” said Michelle Brown, Volunteer Manager at Clothes Less Traveled.
Jordan, who had the opportunity to select the nonprofit recipient for the month’s grant award, chose the Friends of the Peachtree City Library due to her personal connection with the library.
“As a 25-year member of the Fayette County community, our local libraries were a foundational part of my childhood. The Peachtree City Library, specifically, was a wonderful oasis that fostered a lifelong love of learning and literature. I am honored to have the opportunity to present my Above and Beyond Grant to the Friends of the Peachtree City Library, an organization that continues to cultivate literacy and community,” Jordan shared.
The grant check was officially presented to the Friends of the Peachtree City Library on Tuesday, February 4th by Michelle and Jordan, recognizing the organization’s contributions to literacy and community enrichment.
The Friends of the Peachtree City Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1973 to promote the Peachtree City Library within the community. The organization raises funds to supplement the library’s budget and provides financial and volunteer support for various library programs. The Friends sponsor activities such as children’s and adult reading programs, writers’ workshops and art initiatives, and they oversee the Joel Cowan History Room.
Carl Hoverstad, President of the Friends of the Library, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and support from Clothes Less Traveled and Jordan’s selection.
“We are honored to receive this support from Clothes Less Traveled. Their continued generosity makes a real impact in our efforts to support the library in this incredible community,” Hoverstad stated.
The Friends of the Peachtree City Library continues to seek local partners and supporters who share a passion for literacy and community engagement. Those interested in joining or contributing can visit PTCLibraryFriends.org to learn more about membership, donations, and volunteer opportunities.
