The Sgt. Clyde Thomason Medal of Honor Detachment #1325 of the Marine Corps League recently donated $2,500.00 to The Shepherd’s Men, a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring hope and healing to combat veterans and their families and empower those suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of their service to America. Most recently, the mission has been expanded to include first responders suffering from TBI or PTSD. The organization’s services are offered at no expense to the veterans and families. The donation was presented by Past Commandant Mike Foran.
The mission of the Marine Corps League is to promote the interest and to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of Marines and their families; serve Marines and FMF Navy Personnel who wear or who have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor; and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism. There are 1,200 local detachments across the United States.
The local detachment, which serves Coweta and Fayette counties, meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. the fellowship hall of Christ the King Church at 4881 Highway 34 East, Sharpsburg, and membership is open to all Honorably Discharged Marines and Fleet Marine Force Navy Corpsmen and Chaplains.
