Kedron Elementary students put a unique twist on their Civil War studies, drawing comic strips depicting key battles.
Students in Mike Grabhorn’s social studies classes were tasked with creating a graphic story depicting one of the major battles of the Civil War. They could choose the Battle of Bull Run, the Battle of Vicksburg, or the Battle of Gettysburg.
The artists had to give the appropriate order of events, and the graphics taught other key details, such as when and where the battle took place, which side had more troops, and who won the battle. When they finished, the students were able to use their graphic stories to tell about their battle. They then used their workbooks to check the accuracy of the stories.
