The Peachtree City Wind Ensemble will present A Patriotic Band Concert for the Heroes on June 22 and June 29 to honor America, its freedom, and those who serve and protect it. The ensemble, a group of volunteer musicians from across the region representing a range of ages and experience levels, invites the community to attend these special performances, where they will showcase not only their passion for music, but also their patriotic spirit.

The first concert will take place on Sunday, June 22, at 3:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. The second will be held on Sunday, June 29, at 3:00 p.m. at Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.

Under the direction of longtime conductor, Mike Daniell, the ensemble will perform a selection of patriotic works, including pieces by John Philip Sousa, the famous composer known for military marches such as Stars and Stripes Forever and U.S. Field Artillery. Daniell expressed particular enthusiasm for these pieces.

“I have loved the Sousa marches since childhood,” said Daniell. “As a child, I would use a pencil and pretend to direct the marches.”

Another featured work, For Those Who Serve, was composed by ensemble trombonist Bill Greenhaw, who served in the 55th Army Band. Greenhaw shared his gratitude for the opportunity to honor service members through his music in the concerts.

The ensemble invites all members of the community to join them in this lively celebration of patriotism and unity through music.
