Congratulations to David Jimmerson for being this week’s Citizen of the Week.

David Jimmerson of Fayetteville has been working for a very long time. He started a paper route at age 14, was a veteran in Korea’s Army Corps of Engineers, and then worked as a civil engineer and owned his own construction survey company for many years. Now, at age 91, David is retired from engineering and running a business, and has been Treasurer of the Fayette Samaritans for the last thirteen and a half years.

The Fayette Samaritans provide a food pantry and financial support to struggling families. Supported by area churches, including Flat Creek Baptist, where David is a member, the Samaritans do important work that David is proud to be a part of. He said, “I’m going to keep going as long as the Lord lets me.”

David has survived both of his wives who passed due to different cancers, the first after 42 years of marriage, the second after 9 years of marriage. He’s most proud of his family, and says that he has eighteen great-grands and four more on the way.

David is sharp, his kindness is obvious in his eyes. David treats others with respect. He’s the sort of person who builds up a community by living, working, praying and volunteering. And by raising a massive family that makes the world a better place.

Do you know a Citizen like David? We’d love for you to nominate them for future Citizen of the Week.

Any person in Fayette or Coweta County can nominate a Fayette or Coweta resident to be featured. To submit, you’ll need between 100 and 500 words about why your nominee deserves the spotlight and a photo of them. Submissions without a photo cannot be accepted. Fill out the nomination form here:
