Newnan celebrated America’s 249th birthday with a festive morning parade that brought together residents of all ages in a proud display of red, white, and blue. The celebration kicked off promptly at 9:00 a.m., with participants gathering at Veterans Memorial Park before marching down Temple Avenue and concluding at Greenville Street Park.

As usual, the parade was well-organized and full of heart. Crowds cheered from the sidewalks as local groups walked the route first — families, veterans, and students waving flags — followed by decorated classic cars, tractors, firetrucks, and floats wrapped in patriotic bunting.

The energy reached new heights, quite literally, at 9:22 a.m., when a formation of planes soared over downtown in a coordinated flyover, drawing gasps and applause from the crowd. Many called it their favorite moment of the morning.

Young entrepreneurs even set up a lemonade stand along the route, donating part of their proceeds to the Coweta Pregnancy Center. It was a small but sweet example of how community and generosity were at the heart of the day.

The entire event wrapped up around 9:30 a.m., just in time for families to head home or off to local brunch spots. From small children waving flags to seniors smiling from lawn chairs, the morning proved once again that Newnan knows how to honor its country, and its community, with spirit, style, and a whole lot of heart.
