An expert from the National Weather Service helped Sara Harp Minter Elementary students better understand their studies.
The teamup began as Cooper Bryant and Alexander Macke were preparing for a science competition. They had a connection to Laura Belanger, Senior Service Hydrologist/Meteorologist with the National Weather Service, through church. Belanger invited the boys to the weather center in Atlanta where they got a tour, and they even got to launch a weather balloon.
Parents Adam Macke, a Science Olympiad coach, and Evan Bryant, a Whitewater High teacher, helped facilitate the experience.
Belanger graciously agreed to share her expertise further by presenting to 3rd graders at the school who had been reading about extreme weather.
