Peachtree City Interns Celebrate Successful Summer and Pickleball Community Celebrates Huge Win

This week’s work session meeting began with HR Director Dr. Teaa Allston-Bing honoring the Summer 2025 Summer Interns.  She praised their professionalism and commitment to excellence as a “testament to the future of public service.”  Additionally, Dr. Allston-Bing recognized the departments that took on these interns for their guidance and mentorship.  Interns had created a short video to express their gratitude for the experience, which they state aided their professional development as civic leaders.

Much of public comment centered around the question- 12 new pickleball courts at Meade Field, or 18?  “Newnan is roughly the size of Peachtree City, and they have 20 public-access pickleball fields,” one citizen stated, noting that many Peachtree City pickleball players pack up and go to Newnan or Griffin to play pickleball- and then get lunch there, taking business revenue elsewhere.  Pickleball players at the meeting wore 18 stickers to show their support for an 18-court facility rather than a 12-court one.  In fact, the pickleball decision was moved to the top of the agenda due to the overwhelming presence of pickleball supporters at this week’s meeting.  And, in a win that will doubtless go down in Peachtree City pickleball history, the council voted to add 18 courts rather than 12 at Meade Field.

Recreation program donations were accepted, which will not only help support public recreational events but will help to put in memorial benches at various recreational location.  Additionally, Fire Station 83 was granted the permission to renovate.  An appeal was also approved for a dock on city lake property for a residence on Hip Pocket Road, which contains many houses bordering Lake Peachtree.
