The Coweta Street Park Initiative is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting and grand opening of City of Hope Park, scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at the park site.
This exciting event marks the culmination of years of planning, partnership, and community support. The park will be officially unveiled offering a new space for recreation, connection, and celebration.
The ceremony will feature representatives from City of Hope, the park’s name sponsor, members of the Coweta Street Park Initiative Steering Committee, and the Senoia Housing Authority. The Coweta Street Park Initiative steering committee and the Senoia Housing Authority plan to donate the completed park to the City of Senoia later this year.
Also present will be members of the family and friends of Laura Dzwigalski, a Senoia resident and philanthropist who passed at the age of 42 in 2022. Her entire memorial fund went towards the park initiative, making their contribution one of the park’s largest. “Laura’s life was colored beautifully by her optimism and her goal of making the world better,” said her friend Ellie White-Stevens, Editor of The Citizen.
According to her Optimist Club, Laura wanted this park to happen. This park both serves underprivileged children living in nearby HUD homes, and other more recent home builds. It replaces a dilapidated old park that put walls up between the neighborhoods and served more as an eyesore than a recreation area.
The park committee stated, “We invite the entire community to join us in this milestone moment. Come be part of the celebration as we open the gates to a brighter, more connected future.”
