The Panthers are pitching in to help their furry friends. Starr’s Mill High’s girls basketball program took a day off from practice to volunteer at the Fayette County Animal Shelter.

Instead of practice, the varsity and JV teams went directly to the shelter after school and worked until the sun went down. Together with family volunteers, they rallied together and brought outdoor equipment such as rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows to be used to fill walking paths with mulch for the shelter to be able to walk the animals on.

For varsity head coach Brandon Cerezola, it was an opportunity to serve the community that supports the team.

“Service is a pillar of our program and a life skill we strongly believe in and push for each of our players to develop and encompass throughout their time with us,” said Cerezola. “We hope this experience encourages not only our players, but also our community as one, to see there is no limitation on the impact, big or small, we can have together.”
