Those wanting to turn in an application for a weapons carry license or renew an expiring license at the Fayette County Probate Court will have to wait until after May 13. Accommodations are being made for those with a current license expiring prior to that time.

Fayette County Probate Judge Ann Jackson said probate courts across Georgia will temporarily suspend acceptance of applications for weapons carry licenses, and the renewal of weapons carry licenses pursuant to the orders of the Georgia Supreme Court declaring a Judicial Emergency for the period March 14 – May 13.

“Any license that shows an expiration date during the emergency period will not expire until thirty days after May 13, 2020,” said Jackson. “A license holder will be allowed to renew without being required to be fingerprinted and the lower renewal fee with apply.”

If the judicial emergency period extends beyond May 13 further order will issue and the weapons carry license renewal period will be further extended, Jackson said.
