Dr. Kenya Houghton Anders, age 66, of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed away onTuesday, May 6, 2025.She leaves behind her devoted husband of forty-one years, David, and their fivebeloved children: Rebekah (Sean), Lloyd (Jackie), Luke (Savannah), Rachel, andLincoln. She was a proud grandmother to Levi Noble Anders. Kenya is alsosurvived by her siblings, James (Jody) and John (Gena) Houghton, and Jo (Brad)Reeves. Also, her deeply cherished in-laws, nieces and nephews, grand-niecesand nephews, and cousins. Each one brought her joy and pride, and she lovedthem dearly.Kenya’s life was marked by academic excellence, quiet strength, and a profounddedication to healing. She graduated as valedictorian from Mascoutah HighSchool in 1976, earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia in1980, and her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in 1984.She went on to complete residencies and achieve board certifications in bothInternal Medicine and Dermatology. For over 34 years, she faithfully served as adermatologist at Kaiser Permanente, where she was known not only for herclinical expertise, but also for her deep compassion and integrity. She was aFellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and was awarded lifetimemembership for her enduring contributions to the field.Outside of medicine, Kenya was a woman of vibrant curiosity, discipline, andcreativity. From an early age, she excelled in music, mastering piano and clarinet,and as an adult, took up the harp, which she played during worship at New HopeBaptist Church. She completed thirteen marathons. She found joy in the quietmoments of life, perfecting and generously sharing her sourdough bread, tendingto her family traditions, and blessing others with acts of kindness.To honor her mother’s career in education, Kenya established an annualscholarship at McIntosh High School. For more than 30 years, she hosted abeloved family dinner that raised support for the Georgia Baptist Children’sHome. At Christmastime, she encouraged her children, nieces, and nephews tohide God’s Word in their hearts, awarding a dollar for each Bible verse they couldrecite from memory. That passion for Scripture led her to publish a book to helpother families to do the same.In death, Kenya is reunited with her beloved parents, Colonel Stanley P. Houghtonand Joan Noble Houghton, and with the two children lost in pregnancy – souls shelonged to hold and now embraces, having known the joy and sorrow only amother’s heart can understand.
